Gamzee Grub Plushie by Rayaya Gamzee Grub Plushie by Rayaya
It's a mini Gamzee, wooo! :o)
He's around 7 inches long and extra squishy and beany.

[link]
Here's the pattern if you want to make your own grub! Feel free to use it any way you like.
It doesn't include horns or hair, so you can use it as a base for any grub you like.

*If you need a step-by-step tutorial, Zelendur has made a great one which can be found HERE! Thank you!

(If you don't need tutorials and are ok with using sloppy guideline doodles to see where the pieces go, here they are. [link])

The hair for this one is made out of many pieces of felt glued on in layers. I'd recommend looking up a tutorial for plushie hair since it can be a real pain to make it work! I have also seen other grubs with hair made from black fur, which looks great if done right. (If I'd had any black fur when I made this guy, I'd have used that instead.)

To make the lines on the body, I made three rows of stitches across the back and pulled them tighter and looser until they looked right.

The head should be sewn into a complete ball before you try to attach it to the body. Do not leave a hole in the head. (Before it is stuffed, it may look an odd shape, but don't panic! Stuff it well and squish it around into a ball.)

If there's anything else you're stuck with, try looking through the comments section because I might have answered it before.

I made a Tutorial for Plush Grubs and used your pattern there, also your "doodles where things go" for it.
Hope you don't mind it, but I got asked a lot of questions about my grubs and decided to make a tutorial to help others out! ^u^

Oh, nice job! I know a lot of people find it easier to follow step-by-step instructions with pictures, so this is probably pretty helpful. Do you mind if I put a link to this in the description here?

I would suggest using fleece for the body felt for the hair I would use gray fleece for the head too. For stuffing you can just use stuffing that comes right out of a pillow as long as it is the white pull able kind

Thanks for making a pattern for this!! I've been wanting to do stuff like this! But the only problem I've been having is I can't figure out how to attach the feets, and you haven't answered whenever anyone asks? i was really hoping you could tell me, because I'm new to sewing ^^

(Wow, sorry for replying nearly a month later. Whoops.)

When you are sewing the side and bottom body pieces together, you can place the completed legs in between the two pieces and sew through them as you go along. Then when you turn the fabric the right way out, the legs will be sewn into the seam. Make sure you position them the right way round and at the right distance along the body.

Alternatively just stitch them on the outside (the same way you'd do horns) after completing the body. I think that's how I did it.

So there any possibly of getting a commission of a Gamzee like this? =)
A good friend of mine has been wanting an adorable grub just like this one and it would make for a wonderful Christmas present for her.
I don't want to attempt to make it and have it ruined just before Christmas comes.

Nope. I don't do commissions and Hussie specifically said you're not allowed to sell Homestuck stuff anyway.
Your best bet would be to try making one anyway, or try something else completely. You still have some time!

Hello! I am considering making a tutorial for grubs since there is not one out there, and wanted to know if it would be okay to use your pattern in the tutorial as long as I gave proper credits.

Oh, I definitely wouldn't mind! In fact that would be very helpful! I get a lot of questions about grubs, it would be good to have somewhere to link people to for help.
I see you've used the pattern before, but let me know if you need any extra advice or anything before you start! :D

It is drawn on carefully with a squeezy bottle of fabric paint.

I'm currently sitting in front of the laptop with my pieces all laid out in front of me. My only concern right now is how did you attach the head to the body without pinching it too tight, sewing it, and letting it flop around everywhere. Was there a certain method you did to doing this attachment?

Hmm, sounds like you might just need to pin it in place before you sew it. I actually never use pins, though I maybe should. I just deal with the flopping around at that stage lol.

What kind of stitch did you use? When I invert my forms, the stitching shows pretty badly, and I'm using a double stitch. I can't decide if its my stitch that's the problem or my material. (I'm using felt)

Felt is not a good thing to use for this! Try and find fleece if you can.
Generally the smaller you can make your stitches and the straighter a line they are in, the better they will look when inverted. But yes felt isn't very good unless used for very small things.

I used this pattern for three grubs I did lately for a Cosplay! <3
I just added fins for my Erigrub to make the seadwelling grub more headcanon x)
I had the same problem with the Pyramid Head (lol) as well, but in the end I squished long enough around until it looked a little like a ball! xP
But I think my problem was because I am not good at sewing and messed a lot around!

Well in the end I am just here to thank you for providing your pattern, somehow its pretty tough to find a good grub sewing tutorial and even such a simple pattern is pretty tough for a derpy beginner like I am! So I was kinda glad to have this for my help! <3

Just in case you might be interested, this is how my little shits turned out: [link]

Again, thanks a whole lot for your help! <3
